yeh-jawaani-hai-deewani

I love the songs. And who wouldn’t? Crispy, lyrical and topped with awesome fun filled music. Even ‘kabira’, it can be your favorite number any day. First day and first show and it wasn’t worth it. Romantic as ever. With we-have-seen-this-before pairing of dips and rans… the bachna ae haseeno chemistry comes off better but I wasn’t jumping after the movie ended..

STARRING

Ranbir Kapoor     Deepika Padukone     Aditya Roy Kapoor

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013) : (IMDb | Wikipedia) : OVERVIEW

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (English:This youth is crazy) is an 2013 Bollywood romantic film, directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Karan Johar. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone in lead roles.

MOVIE TRAILER

EXCLUSIVE REVIEW

The plus point of the movie is – it is for the tender hearted. The romantic buffs. It is very fresh, with lots of youthfulness. The locations are scenic too. But, is it worth the hype? I don’t use clichés, but, “it’s a onetime watch.” refreshing, if not anything.

STORY

The wedding of Aditi and Tarun turns out to be the turning point for Naina (Deepika Padukone) and Bunny (Ranbir Kapoor). old crush, our very own aditya roy kapoor also adds his own super gloom act as a stressed out gambler cum bar owner. They are two different people from two different Timbuktu’s. How people fall in love and why they bond for eternity – that is what is “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani” is all about. The madness, the laughter which crackles in friendship and slowly transforms into a love so pure and insane that it doesn’t matter who you are, but with who you are. Not much of a story. It’s not a thriller. It’s Indian ‘mills and boons’.

PERFORMANCES

Passionate. One word for Ranbir’s act. He is a hard working videographer on a travel show, the kind you have always heard about, but never met. Ranbir carried bunny with class. All his props and dialogues were in the spirit of the movie. Deepika shines again. The transformation of Naina from the restricted claustrophobic person she thought she was to a free spirited woman with a new found love for herself and comfort within her choices is awesome. Brazen, loud and boisterous – that is Aditi. Kalki was not much happening. Just as her looks, she was not much of a maal with her acting too. Avi was the gist of the foursome. Aditya, after Aashiqui 2, did the act as we had expected and all with an awesome uphill in his career. All other supporting actors, with Madhuri’s appearance, are just pinch of salt to the already salted curry.

Ayan brought youth with a bang, no doubt. But I think, the highpoint was the songs. If not for them, this movie would have been too boring to be even called a movie. There are times in the movies, which are so slow and paused that you don’t want to yawn, yet you do. Keep your expectations low and you will love this movie. More popular than Aashiqui 2, yet less as good as Aashiqui’s romantic buffet- dips and rans will sail through.

MUSIC

No words to explain how the songs are. Battamez Dil sung by Benny Dayal, Shefali Alvares sounds just better on the big screen. Balam Pichkari sung by Vishal Dadlani, Shalmali Kholgade has one of the best soundtracks. Kabira is the winner. The background score rocks.

VERDICT

If you have planed already to watch this movie, don’t ever turn back, no matter how many people and reviews tell you “there still is time.” 😀 😛 The movie is not bad at all. It will lighten up your mood and you will feel lifted off into a world, which is without pains and nerve racking calibers. If you are a fan of any of the stars – enough reason to watch this flick. And even if end up not watching it on the daddy screens, wait for good print. 😉
