MOVIE TRAILER

Queen(2014) Movie Review

Class.Perfection. Memorable.

Just watch the movie for Kangana. She acts so well that even when she is stereotyped, I could not say vamoosh you back to your shell, amongst all the awesome background music with so much soul in their lyrics that its hard to criticise such a movie. And to make matter worse – Kangana is my favorite actress. She just became a notch more. While her contemporaries are sky-flying through commercialised movies – All this doll cares about his a good script and a meaty role. Queen gives her both those things and voila!

A conservative Punjabi girl, RANI (Kangana Ranauat) is ditched by her fiance (Rajkumar Rao) two days before her big day. She goes alone to her honeymoon destinations nevertheless and discovers a lot, about the world and herself.

CAST & CREW

Its Kangana all the way. ‘Queen’ the kind of coming-of-age, discovery-of-self tale that Bollywood usually doesn’t touch with a bargepole. As a long-legged hotel maid Vijay Lakshmi, Lisa Haydon has come long way from a supermodel to an actress. I have followed her career and now I am going to stalk. 😀 The direction is fresh, well done. The script was the powerhouse and it never fuses. The director also tried to deliver a motivating message to the women folk through this film which says that every woman has the power to overcome all her miseries and lead her life the way she wants. The locations are all in snippets, The movie is loud and clear about one thing – We have a good story and we aren’t promoting tourism, so…

MUSIC

Having five songs in the first half might just push you to check your pending messages on your cellphones till the time the song gets over BUT BUT, The songs are breathless. SO FREAKING GOOD. Did you hear Jugni, Badra Bahar or Harjaaiyan yet?? No? DAFUQ dude. Strong lyrics, good music and tonal appreciation all the way through.

VERDICT

Queen is a landmark of sorts. If Filmfare awards was worth the dime in Bollywood like Oscars is in hollywood, I had give Kangana the black lady.
