Krrish 3 (2013) Review: KMG To Krap3

You know who is the villain? Oberoi. V-i-v-e-k. The uncanny resemblance to the American franchise of superhero movies and the unrealistic plethora of kicks and fights reach new heights with the movie seemingly rooted in bullshit agendas. The special effects live up to the expectations and the good news is, it’s all done in India. KMG was one of my favourites. So sweet and original. Krissh 3 is opposite. While Krrish 2 was still better off with expectations and storyline, Krrish 3 lacks both.

Krrish 3 is an 2013 Bollywood superhero science fiction film. The film is produced and directed by Rakesh Roshan. The film will continue the story of Rohit Mehra and his superhero son Krrish.

STORY

Krishna (Hrithik Roshan) is now married to his lady love Priya (Priyanka Chopra). They live with his father, Rohit Mehra (also played by Hrithik Roshan) who works for the well being of the society. Mastermind Kaal (Vivek Oberoi), who want to destroy the human race is pitted angst Krrish after a series of adventures and misfortunes.

PERFORMANCE

Hrithik Roshan can never disappoint. No matter what kind of sick screenplay he has to play into. He did a good job of doing a double role. And for someone who was 120 Kgs as a kid, his body needs an applaud every time he drops jaws with his muscles. Double roles were never so fun. Kangana Ranaut has been sidelined as the supporting actress but her role has more prowesses then the weepy unbearable Priyanka. Ranaut sails smoothly in the evil character gliding through the action scenes. Direction is above average (but then for a video game themed movie- that is one factor you cannot ignore).

Rakesh Roshan insisted that Krrish 3 is not just an action film and he meant it. It has an Indian side to all the visual treats you get. Even after the villainous acting by Oberoi, who is getting worse and worse, I can praise the concept of the villain on the wheelchair. The other supporting casts are as always – fabulous. The department where Krrish3 lags is the screenplay, the choreography and music. The songs are dumb and trashy.

MUSIC

Not worth the franchise. Raghupati raghav raja ram/ Non-stop party/Aaj ki party/ Celebrations tere naam- worst songs ever for the years.

The next track, “You Are My Love” talks about cheesy love lines and to be honest the song is a complete disaster, it would be better to skip it off. However, alternatively you could switch to Idea’s popular jingle, “You’re my pumpkin, hello hunny bunny,” that would be a whole lot better listen over this, just any day.

VERDICT

Nevertheless, Krrish 3’s packaging is fairly pretty yet, it cannot be called amazing in the time of films like Avatar and Gravity. Did you watch gravity yet? You should. It’s an amazing black hole of awesomeness. Errr…. Back to krrish3- some might like it, some might hate it and some might agree with each point I made and some might totally disagree- but no one can change the fact that krrish3 has its moments and it’s bad. But overall, it’s not worth the day.
