We all know Quentin Tarantino for his classy movies, of course, the ones involving blood, gore, violence, etc. But, he is famous for something else as well, even he didn’t realize that this will become a cult movie term – “Trunk Shot”. Okay, so, this is a camera angle used in films, which captures the scene from inside the trunk of a vehicle, it can be a car, truck, blah blah. Tarantino didn’t invent or frame this shot/term, but most of his movies contain this trademark shot and people started to follow it. Coming back to this shot, back those days, it’s not possible (and necessary) to place the camera in the trunk to achieve this, but they achieved this by tweaking the setup and giving us the face view whenever a character opens the trunk.
Trunk scenes are not just for the vehicle *trunk* but more like a Low-angle shot. We all have our own definition for this these days. In this article, we mentioned most of the possible trunk angles used in Tarantino’s movies, do check them!
