The story was already known widely, in fact, that was the main reason I chose to watch it.

India and Pakistan are to be divided according to the Radcliffe Line, but Begum Jaan’s “Kotha” or Brothel stood just in the middle of the proposed boundary area. Begum Jaan (Vidya) lives with around ten other prostitutes inside the house. The problem started when Govt officials reached out to Begum Jaan with the Eviction notice. What happens afterward is the heart of the film, as they refuse to abandon their Kotha!

Begum Jaan (2017)

The events in the film are scripted and displayed in a brilliant style. The story is so powerful and so emotional. It grasps you tight. It gives you Goosebumps, not once, not twice, but several times. Minute details from the life of the prostitutes, to the moves by the Govt Officials, were depicted clean. Thanks to Srijit Mukherjee for making us ride through this unique story.

The movie followed the same style and pattern as it’s Bengali counterpart, so going through the scenes were nostalgic. Dialogues are superb and will rage you to stand up and fight from inside. Begum Jaan’s dialogues, such as, “Mahina humein ginna aata hai sahab… har baar saala laal karke jaata hai” —– is something that points the finger to our society directly.

Coming to the roles, several veteran actors were roped in to perform as the characters. But, unfortunately, that’s where this movie fails to generate the force, which the story wants. No wonder the actors poured their best efforts. It was nice to watch Vidya as Begum Jaan, she was rough and tough, but I felt she needed to more strong. Same with the roles of other girls, including “Amma” Ila Arun. Rajit Kapoor and Ashish Vidyarthi’s roles were somehow better.

The bold role played by child actress Gracy Goswami in just one scene deserves special mention. 🙂

Coming to soundtracks, they are heart touching. Hearing the versatile Asha Bhosle sing “Prem mein Tohre…” in this movie is bliss. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Sonu Nigam’s duet is mesmerizing. Once again it was proved that Music has no borders. I liked the fact that their song “Azaadiyan” is kept in a sequence of the movie where India and Pakistan are being divided.

Lastly, coming to the ending of the film, a lot of people got disappointed with the ending. For me, it was kinda okay-ish. I was like, what has to happen, happened. You can’t change it otherwise. You have to bear it. So, that was my review about Begum Jaan. I won’t draw comparisons between the Bengali and the Hindi versions, both had something original, and both were equally good.

What I feel personally is that the theme was strong, and it needed stronger personalities. Some of the roles were pathetic which ruined the overall quality of the movie. I give it 3 out of 5. Thanks.

Frequency is a 2000 movie about a young man, who accidentally connects to his dead father through a cross-time radio trying to change the events that led to his demise.

Frequency (2000) – Intro

Played by Jim Cavizel and Dennis Quaid, the movie starts off with Frank Sullivan (Dennis Quaid) doing what he does best, saving lives as a firefighter. Frank’s character comes off as the ordinary American family man, who loves playing baseball with his son. In a different time frame, we see, young John Sullivan (Jim Cavizel) separating from his wife, due to his hectic work schedule working as an NYPD officer and his reluctance to leave his father’s home. The differences in both the characters can be seen in the way they handle life in general. As the film progresses, it is somewhat clear that Frank died in a tragic accident leaving his wife (Elizabeth Mitchell) and son alone. On one event, while entertaining his friend and his friend’s son, they come across his father’s old cross-time radio. As the events unfold we see, the radio work and connect to a station 30 years back in time.

Frequency (2000) Review Movie Explained

It confused me a little, the possibility of connecting with someone in the past just with an old cross-time radio is something that you would not ordinarily see in movies of this genre. It was evident from the fact, that even John could not believe that he was indeed talking to his dad (presumed dead) 30-years back in time. What’s notable here is the TV report that was being aired momentarily a few days ago on the channel about the re-appearance of the Aurora Borealis, brighter than ever before presumably 30-year after it’s first sighting. The fact that John was going through articles about his father right around the same time as the TV broadcast sheds a lot of light on the possibility as to how John could connect to his father 30-years back in time.

Frequency (2000) Aurora Borealis Northern Lights

In my theory, it is very much possible that Frank Sullivan may have been using his radio, during the first occurrence of the Aurora Borealis which led to both their timelines being connected by the magnificent natural phenomenon. It should also be noted that throughout the movie the Aurora Borealis shone bright both across Frank and John’s houses at a time gap of 30-years. Another possible theory that may apply is of both Frank and John sharing the same house during the occurrence which made the connection possible.

The series of bizarre events taking place as a result of their extraordinary connection goes on to change John’s perspective of life in general, as he spends most of his time trying to tweak or change the fabrics of time to save the ones he loves. John realizes the consequences of tweaking the past, that sends a rippling effect on his present as he finds his mother’s existence disappearing from his life, owing to events that happened in the past.

Frequency (2000) – Ending Explained

Towards the end of the movie, we find the Nightingale killer re-appear in both the timelines at the same time as a younger version in Frank’s timeline and as an older version in John’s. Both versions of the killer get into a brawl with Frank and John in their respective timelines. Amidst the brawl, we find Frank blowing off the Nightingale killer’s hand with a shotgun which has a rippling effect on the present as the older version of the killer loses his hand as well. An interconnection of timelines occur as we see the environment around John change to the way it was back when Frank was alive. Many viewers get confused as to how Frank reappears back in John’s timeline to kill the Nightingale killer. The theory may be, because of their timelines interconnecting together, Frank is now present in John’s timeline at the same place where he last was in his timeline with the shotgun, thus allowing him to save his son and kill the Nightingale for good.

Frequency (2000) Ending

The twists of events are sure to leave you scratching your head thinking about the cross in the space-time continuum. The film does justice to the magnificent Aurora Borealis, commonly known as northern lights which goes on to play a very essential role in giving off certain clues about the story.

It indeed makes you question, the possibility of certain decisions having a rippling effect on our lives and the lives of the others. Not only does it bring about a fresh breath of air in its genre, but also brings with it a certain emotional gravity seen in the bond between a father and a son. It’s pretty evident the film is sure to leave an everlasting impression on your mind.

Where does the title Oceans 11 come from? Well, the hero of this story is Danny Ocean, and he along with ten other criminal types decide to pull off the biggest casino heist in history ($150 million). That’s an awful lot of money. The largest real life casino heist is believed to have occurred in Perth, Australia 2013 and seems to have been an inside job. It involved a lot of security camera watching, and two casino employee’s relaying the information to a high roller at the card table. Of course unlike Danny Ocean this lot got caught although none were prosecuted. Because no money had left the casino, the two employees were dismissed, and the high roller deported to his home country.

Ocean 11 was made on a budget of around $85 million and grossed $183 million in the United States and $267 million overseas. A worldwide gross of $450 million. Three times the value of the movie heist. If there is a lesson to be learned here it is a crime does not pay but making movies about it does.

Casinos make great Hollywood entertainment because they are exciting places to be. If you don’t have the opportunity to visit a casino locally, then the online excitement is only a fingertip away. Why not get down and play some UK Roulette and experience some great casino excitement in the comfort of your own home. There you’ll find a superb guide to the best in online casino games.

Steven Soderbergh went on to direct two more sequels to Oceans 11. In Oceans 12 the same team needs to pay back all the money they spent or go to jail. You can guess how they decide to raise the dosh. The Ocean 13 plot is a little more complexed. The guys are no longer in this for the money… this time it’s for revenge. The movie is great fun, and we get an added bonus. Al Pacino is the bad guy they are trying to get even with. As if this movie does not have enough stars!

Now listen up. The word on the streets is the next movie is a sort of remake of the original Oceans 8. Presently in production, the new movie has a new director and a female cast. Sandra Bullock among others. Things will never be the same.

We have all heard or read the arguments about watching a movie or playing a game using your small screen. Critics of this pastime would say that movies are actually a work of art and were never designed to be watched using a mobile phone or tablet. This view would be echoed by many who enjoy gaming. However, the simple fact is that we now lead lives where we simply do not have either the time or the money to plan a night out at the local casino or movie theater.

When Smaller Can Be Better

Of course, this fact does not mean many us would love to watch our favorite movie at the cinema with a drink in one of those plush chairs they provide, the same goes for playing, say, at your local casino. But just like eating out at high-class restaurants all of the time, most of us cannot afford it.

This has led to many of us accessing the smaller screen to watch our movies or play at our favorite casino site.
Take Leo Vegas as an example of how the gambling industry has embraced mobile users. Leo Vegas makes use of fourteen game software providers with all of the major players included. Games are geared towards optimum playability via mobile devices as well as your desktop or lappy.

The lack of choice that mobile users once had to put up with has disappeared with quality sites offering many high-quality games together with exceptional bonus offers, some exclusive to the mobile user. Mobile users can use their existing passwords and payment options to fund their mobile accounts; they can even pay using their monthly phone bill or have the amount deducted from their pay as you balance.

Of course, none of this would be available to us if technology had not advanced as much as it has over the past few years. Screens are better and bigger and there is even talk of Apple producing an iPhone with an OLED display. More and more people are turning to their mobile devices, whether iOS or Android and as Internet connections are more reliable and work better, games or movies will not crash half way through. All in all, it is simply a more worthwhile and entertaining experience.

Statistics show that more people now use their mobiles for browsing, shopping and paying for goods and services. These statistics also show that more and more people use their mobile devices for entertainment and this is understandable. Nowhere else can you play, shop, browse and communicate, check your health and book a holiday all from the same place from anywhere you happen to be (as long as you have an internet connection.) Watching a movie or playing a hand of poker has never been as accessible as it is now, and for some, that is just too great of an opportunity to miss.

Hello Movie Maniacs, when it comes to watching animation movies by Disney, there can be nothing better for movie maniacs such as me. My childhood revolved around Disney movies and cartoons. So, whenever I feel sad or low, I start watching animation movies which bring back my childhood memories and brightens my mood.

Life Lessons We Can Learn From The Movie Zootopia

Today I decided to watch the movie Zootopia from my pending movie bucket list because I was feeling low, and I hadn’t watched it earlier. Watching the movie made me bounce back to my normal chirpy mood, and I decided to write what I liked the most about Zootopia for MoviesDrop. I know I am a little bit late about writing about life lessons from Zootopia, but I believe in being late in doing something good than never doing it at all.

Plot – Zootopia is a story about a cosmopolitan city where all the animals (preys and predators) live and thrive together in harmony in spite of their different orientation and nature. Our protagonist Judy Hopps aka cute bunny has a dream to join the police force and to make world better place to live in.

Let’s get into the life lessons which I learnt.

1. Always Dream Big

Judy Hopps always wanted to be a police officer and work in Zootopia since she was a little kid. Everybody laughs at her, and even her parents suggest that she work on a carrot farm like her other siblings. In spite of all these obstacles, she keeps following her dream. She enrolls herself in the police academy and finally, becomes the first rabbit police officer.

Ellen Johnson Sirleaf said correctly: If your dreams don’t scare you, they are not big enough. So don’t be afraid to dream big. Try harder and harder to achieve your dreams.

2. Believe In Yourself

Our protagonist Judy has the dream to become a police officer, in spite of her cute appearance and frail physique. She believes in herself and her dream to be a police officer, and make the world better place to live in.

Zootopia Quote 2

What I took away from this is: If you don’t believe in yourself, then no one will. This is one of my favorite life lessons from Zootopia.

3. Don’t Be Prejudiced

On the first day of Judy’s duty as a meter maid, she meets Nick Wilde a Fox, who is a con artist and a thief, and who appears to be mean and selfish. Judy judges Nick for being who he is, but when she understands the real story behind his behavior, they become good friends.

The central message of Zootopia is about not judging people based on their race or orientation or appearance which can be misleading. Always look for positive things in other persons.

4. Never Give Up

There are several incidents in Zootopia that talk about never giving on a dream. When Judy enrolls into the Police Academy, it is difficult for her to sustain herself during the tough training schedule and to cope with it. Everybody believes her to be nothing more than a cute bunny, but she never gives up and keeps training, to eventually become the first bunny police officer.

Zootopia Quote 4

When Judy’s boss assigns her first duty as a parking officer, she doesn’t lose hope. Instead, she keeps waiting for the right opportunity, and when she finds one, she takes a leap of faith to achieve her dream.

5. Friendship

Judy and Nick become the best of friends, in spite of the fact that they are from different backgrounds, and have different appearances and orientations. They teach us how to stand by our friends through thick and thin.

That’s the beauty of friendship; it doesn’t differentiate from where you come and what you are doing. It is all about staying with friends no matter what happens or what is the situation is.

6. Don’t Be Afraid To Make Mistakes

One of Judy’s biggest mistakes is when she arrests Mayor Lion Heart for imprisoning all 14 missing people illegally, because of their savage behavior. Without understanding the sensitivity of the situation, she gives a statement in media about predators reverting to their ancient habits. People begin to panic and start attacking other predators.

Zootopia Quote 1

However, Judy doesn’t give up and keeps investigating until she finds the root cause behind predators going crazy, because of the toxic night howler plant. The moral to be learned here is: Don’t be afraid to make mistakes and learn from them. That’s how you grow up and keep learning. It is called Hustle, sweetie.

Zootopia Quote 3

Deland, FL Carpet Cleaning is a cheap & professional carpet cleaning service, do check it out and get awesome perfection.

Do you want to share your feedback about this blog post or want to share your learning from Zootopia? Do let me know in the comment box below. P.S. This is my first blog post for MoviesDrop.

In this post, we’re going to tell you about 5+ wonderful apps that can get you your favorite movies, TV shows, documentaries and other content, traditional or unconventional, to watch for free on your devices. Most of these are compatible with more than one OS, so go ahead and try them out yourself!

Free Apps For Watching Streaming Movies And TV Shows

Free Apps For Watching Streaming Movies And TV Shows

There are quite a lot of people who love movies. Their tastes vary greatly, and so there is no one-size-fits-all solution. Contrary to what most bloggers would have you believe, one app just cannot be the solution to watch unlimited movies and TV shows you want, especially ones you like. There are plenty of apps you can find for each type of audience. Here are 6 best apps and which category they good in.

1. Crackle

Crackle is now popular, and it even has stellar content of its own. But ever since it was another nondescript app trying to gain public attention, it has been performing consistently well. The app is a wonderful place to look for whatever movie or TV show you want to watch. Chances are that Crackle’s expansive and pretty exhaustive collection will have your favorite content ready to play. What’s more, the app also comes officially available on most App Stores. The content is legal to watch. Crackle shows you some small ads in the middle of your streaming to be able to pay for the content, but you can pay an additional fee to get rid of them.

2. Viewster

Viewster is the most reliable platform to look for Anime content. The app almost specialises in the genre, though there are more types of movies and TV shows on the app too. The reason Viewster is great is because of its content as well as its meticulous design. The app might look like just another movie app when you launch it, but it makes your movie browsing and watching pretty easy. The short bios of the actors, the synopsis and the trailers all make it effortless to choose your entertainment of the day. The app is supported on the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Android, Chromecast and even the XBox360!

3. Yidio

Yidio is among my personal favorites, because it is so easy to use. The app is pretty focused on shortlisting your content, which is a welcome change from the trend which focuses on adding more and more content. The quirk with this app is that it hosts only information of the movies and not the movies themselves. Yidio will tell you which app or video service to invest in to follow a TV series or watch a movie. Most of these services offer a free trial period, so you can watch your content without putting in a dime. Yidio is essentially all the awesome content of apps rolled into one!

4. ShowBox

An app that figures outside of the Play Store or App Store, ShowBox is an Android app that promises you free content without any payment or subscription. The app has a comprehensive collection of movie titles, though it is not as expansive as Crackle or Netflix, for example. ShowBox is easy to use and light in size as well. It can be downloaded online via this apk file or external app stores like 9apps or Vidmate. The shortcoming? There might not be subtitles in your movies, even though the prints will blow your mind.

You TV Player holds promise to become the next instagram of the world of apps. Like Instagram, it is focussed on its genre which is providing movies and TV shows to watch and share. But it has a pretty interesting social aspect too. With Chat feature, you can interact with the You TV Player community, and receive recommendations, give suggestions and make friends from around the world who might enjoy the same content as you. You can save movies and TV show titles to your favorites, and it will be available to you whenever you login to the app, even if you lose your phone or clear the data caches. SnagFilms is my sort of entertainment service. Being a fan of counter-cultural art, alternate cinema and movies with a purpose, it really gladdens my heart to see that an app really exists which can get me recommendations for content I could appreciate as well as carry the content for watching legally. The app is available on most official app stores, and it’s pretty light too. SnagFilms is the ideal place to look for documentaries, hard hitting cinema, LGBT movies, African cinema, Korean movies, films that didn’t make it big despite having stellar performances and short films, among other content. If you’re like me, you’re going to be delighted to discover the various genres which you can watch movies of, along with the traditional content which you might also find in the app’s collection.
